Tell me Sir, what’s this ‘sleeping with the fishes’ all about?

I introduced Donny to our Jaisalmer guide as ‘The Don’. He replied ‘Mafia Don’? and that set the theme for the day.After about an hour he asked why Mafia Don walked so slowly. I said he had to because his people guarding him are on the roofs and had constantly jump between them to get into the best position to protect their Big Boss. I then told him to be very careful because if he made just one wrong move he would be ‘sleeping with the fishes’.

I would have hoped he would have said “that sounds fishy to me” but he didn’t. He just kept scanning the roof lines. After about an hour he said I haven’t seen anyone yet. I said that’s the whole point – but just trip The Don up and you’re fish food!

He’s learning about Italy because many Italians come to his City and only very few speak Italian already. I am hoping we gave some insight into the real Italy and how he might handle any troublesome clients in future.
