In a soul journey of about 2 seconds I was taken back to Bowness on Solway, to the Kings Hall, it’s 1962. The ‘Four Dollars’ have just come on stage to the usual excitement. Not quite ‘Beatlemania’ more ‘Pinky & Perky . As ever they started off with their ‘famous’medley . As soon as the first bars of “Que Sera’ reverbiated out of the beautiful Vox amplifiers, every girl in the place threw her bag in the middle of the floor and stood in an orgasmic circle waiting for the big segue ‘….(plaintiff vocal) I asked my mother will I be handsome, will I be rich, this is what she said to me……[big squeals and wild head shaking]……YOU AIN’T NOTHING BUT A HOUND DOG…..The Presley classic as only the Dollars could do it.Strange what a group of colourful, enchanting Indian ladies can do to a lad’s mind!
