Eco-living?

At Apani Dhani, Nawalgarh we entered into the spirit of eco-living which included recycling all water used, using solar power generated electricity for all lighting, eating from bamboo leaf plates, making no noise after 9.30 the designated bedtime – and joined in heartily at the meal table with fellow EU diners. All ‘tres jolie’ haw haw haw ….until the electicity was turned off completely at ‘bedtime’ which meant we couldn’t recharge our telephones, or cameras, or computer. All essential for travelers. So we’re lying quietly in our beds whispering tomorrows plans when the Indian house music from the downtown Nawalgarh festival kicked in and went on until 4.30 and followed at 5pm when the Imam took over with his ‘almost’ vocal caress.

Hey ho – so tired today and free of ‘power’ and Donny’s got Delhi belly but is holding well despite having just eaten the most expensive platter of mashed potato on the sub-continent laced with Imodium.

Somewhere in all of this are strands of real eco-living and long may they run.
