Real Babool and Indian plum or just a myth..??

Yes the Moxham book has arrived and worth every penny (1p actually). Chapter 1 Page 1 Allan Octavian Hume, Commissioner of Indian Customs gets straight to it "A Hedge? In populated parts of the country, where smuggling is rife, the men are active in preventing the passage of contraband goods by a barrier which, in its most perfect form, is utterly impassable to man or beast and all the outlets through which are guarded".

The important thing is that the route to be taken by the Two Old Geezers criss-crosses the route of the hedge as it winds from Punjab to Delhi to Agra to Jhansi to Hoshangabad to Chandrapur to the Mahandi River the 2504 miles of the way.

Moxham it's been a long journey for you. You're the hombre of hedge yarns but you need a rest for a while. So relax good sir - we're on to it!!

Editors note - for connoisseurs of prickly hedges the botanical name of babool is accacia catecha and Indian plum zizyphues jujuba
