The goat herd

We stopped the car to make a brew on the primus stove - we now can offer darjeeling, green tea and jasmine – and a herd of goats appeared (about 50 of them) from the hill over the road. The goat herd took them to the lake for a drink and then brought them back to where we were brewing up.

Then with a long stick with a small sickle-like blade on top he began to chop off all the ‘green’ branches from the top off a thorn tree (spikes were 2” long) and the goats excitedly ate all the greenery and thorns just leaving the bare branches all over the ground. When they’d finished they all went back up the hill from whence they came.

The tree was decimated but probably not so much that it wouldn’t recover!
