Anil is very quiet today – a combination of listening to the cricket and last night’s womanizing (we suspect he’s a lover not a fighter). India v South Africa. India were wopped in the 1st test and we guess he was deeply upset as a result. He gets quite animated when India get a wicket. Other than that, not much else today.
We just stopped for a pipi in the desert and for Anil to have a fag. Two young goat herders appeared from nowhere – literally – didn’t see them at all. Amazing. Then we all stood round the open car door listening to the cricket. We gave our visitors a banana each. It’s rare to see two people looking so sublimely happy.
Not Anil though – the banana did nothing for him! South Africa lost 2 early wickets but\ are staging a comeback. We’re in for a bleak journey…
